The magic of the cards

The Tarot is the ”Silent Book” in which the symbols, the information and the whole complex system of rules is intended for only those people who can understand them and who are entitled to this knowledge. In the past only the initiated could use it.

TAROT

"The origin of the Tarot goes back to the Golden Age of humanity, whence it spread all over the world. This is why it has very old roots in different cultures. But since the Kabbalah was not unknown to the creators of the Tarot in the Middle Ages the Tarot became a tradition on the continent which, after all, follows the symbolic system of the Hebrew alphabet"

Maria Szepes

The magic of the cards

The ancient origin of tarot is unknownThe Tarot is the ”Silent Book” in which the symbols, the information and the whole complex system of rules is intended for only those people who can understand them and who are entitled to this knowledge.

In the past only the initiated could use it. The secret signs - hieroglyphics – were painted on portable boards and panels, which first came to the Gnostics, and then the Alchemists guarded the its secrets. Surely the roots of the Tarot go back to the ancients and it is certain that the Emerald Tablets of Hermes Trismegistos have a very close connection with the messages of the cards.

The ancient Egyptians used them in initiation ceremonies, but in the Middle Ages (probably with the spread of Christianity) they became less important. Only in the 17th century did it begin to be used again and was rediscovered.

The Tarot is nothing other than a prediction/prophecy card system with colourful, illustrated diagrams, although long time ago it was used as a tool to assist in meditation. The cards are distinguished from each other by the numbers and the Hebrew alphabet printed on them.

Arcana

The cards are divided into two groups. The 22 pieces of the Major Arcana represent symbolic figures and scenes with symbolic meanings. The alphabets of two language families meet the character requirements of the numbers of the Major Arcana. One alphabet is the Hebrew and the other is the Gaelic. The Hebrew and the Gaelic systems affected each other over time.

Tarot Cards are made up of 22 cards of the Major Arcana and 56 cards of the Minor Arcana. The cards of the Major Arcana represent human development and the spiritual path of a human being. On the other hand the cards of the Minor Arcana explain the details of spiritual development by dividing it into four elements, such as earth, water, air and fire.

The coin or as it also called the pentacle is the symbol of the earth, the cup is the symbol of water, the stick or the sword is the symbol of the air and the dagger is the symbol of fire. Twenty-one out of the twenty-two cards are numbered, the twenty-second card is not numbered and the other twenty-one numbered cards represent three times seven (3x7).

This is nothing but a mysterious alchemy of the seven-seven-seven operation. The last or the first page is the "0", the Fool, that represents the human being freed from financial dependence and freed from the material world. All of us will have to reach this state during our journey on earth.

Every card has more than one meaning. This is one of the opportunities that the psychics can use in order to search for secrets of the future. This also could be a great tool during your journey of self-knowledge. There are several types of cartomancy. Four, six, ten or twelve sets of cards can be used in order to look into the unknown future.

Hundreds of documents have been written about the Tarot over hundreds of centuries. The most recent book even mentions more than three thousand varieties of Tarot Cards that are on the market for sale. Montegna, Leonardo da Vinci and Salvador Dali also painted Tarot cards. Anyone who truly would like to walk on the spiritual path will come across these wonderful cards filled with messages and magical powers.

"The tarot was an inspiration for ancient sacred books of all nations. Always pointing to the hidden things and providing the wisest advice you can receive." says Eliphas Levi
